STATEMENT: Update on Westland Boil Water Advisory – 1st Round Test Results Come Back Clear

July 25, 2020

The first round of test results taken by the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) have come back clear for the portion of the Westland water system (Cherry Hill to Michigan Avenue and Henry Ruff to Venoy) under a mandatory boil water advisory since Thursday, July 23. While these results are an indication that there is nothing wrong with the water, the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) requires the boil water advisory remain in effect until the second round of testing returns clear. A second round of test results will be returned on Sunday and upon a second clear result, GLWA will lift the boil water advisory.

GLWA will provide additional updates as soon as they are available.
