A joint statement from DTE Energy and Great Lakes Water Authority

A joint statement from DTE Energy and Great Lakes Water Authority related to an issue with the DTE Equipment that provides power redundancy to GLWA’s Water Resource Recovery Facility.

Early this week, there was an issue with the equipment that provides power redundancy to the Great Lakes Water Authority’s (GLWA) Water Resource Recovery Facility in Detroit. While the facility is working at full capacity to treat wastewater, DTE Energy and GLWA are working in partnership to ensure the facility has its full triple power redundancy restored, which is an industry best practice. The equipment currently powering the facility allows the facility to operate at full capacity.

GLWA has stated that the regional system is currently working as designed and is in dry conditions and currently has capacity to handle the expected wet weather flows into the system from the rain predicted over the next several days.

However, GLWA is asking residents to remain vigilant and out of an abundance of caution, to remove items of value from their basements. It is also helpful if residents do not run their washing machines and dishwashers during heavy rain events.
