Statement: Second Round of Test Results Taken as a Result of Detroit Bulk Storage Partial Land Collapse; Results Confirm No Impact to Water Quality
January 16, 2020
The Great Lakes Water Authority received the results from the second round of water quality testing related to the Detroit Bulk Storage partial land collapse in November. These test results confirm that there was no impact to water quality from this incident.
Tests for PCBs and PAHs came back non-detect. While there was Radium detected, it is naturally occurring in our raw/source water. All levels detected for this radionuclide are below the established maximum contamination limit (MCL) for drinking water set by the U.S. Environmental Protect Agency (EPA) and the state of Michigan.
