GLWA Board of Directors evening community meeting

In January 2018, GLWA’s Board of Directors began hosting one meeting each quarter in a member community. These meetings will replace the regularly scheduled board meeting on that day. On Wednesday, March 28, GLWA’s Board of Directors will hold its second community-based meeting in Sterling Heights at 6:00 p.m. in the Sterling Heights City Hall, located at 40555 Utica Road Sterling Heights, MI 48313.

The first community-based meeting took place in Westland, MI on January 24.

GLWA’s Board and Executive Leadership made the decision to relocate one board meeting a quarter in order to be accessible to community members. As part of GLWA’s vision, to be the provider of choice, it’s crucial for GLWA to be approachable and offer transparency to community members.

Freman Hendrix, Chairman of the GLWA Board of the Directors, believes bringing these meetings into member communities is an important example of the Board and GLWA’s commitment to transparency.

“Changing the time and location of these meetings is a small thing for us to do in order to make these meetings convenient for community members to attend. That’s extremely important because we want people to know who we are and to understand our business. This is a great opportunity to do both,” he explained.

Two other community-based meetings are scheduled for 2018. These meetings will take place in Ferndale on July 25 and Detroit on September 26. All community-based board meetings will begin at 6:00 p.m.
