Starting in January 2018, GLWA’s Board of Directors will host one meeting each quarter in a member community. These meetings will replace the regularly scheduled board meeting on that day. The first community-based meeting will take place in Westland, MI on Wed., Jan. 24 at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at the Westland City Hall, located at 36300 Warren Road, Westland, 48185.

GLWA’s Board and Executive Leadership made the decision to relocate one board meeting a quarter in order to be accessible to community members. As part of GLWA’s vision, to be the provider of choice, it’s crucial for GLWA to be approachable and offer transparency to community members.
Freman Hendrix, Chairman of the GLWA Board of the Directors, believes bringing these meetings into member communities is an important example of the Board and GLWA’s commitment to transparency.
“Changing the time and location of these meetings is a small thing for us to do in order to make these meetings convenient for community members to attend. That’s extremely important because we want people to know who we are and to understand our business. This is a great opportunity to do both,” he explained.
Three other community-based meetings are scheduled for 2018. These meetings will take place in Sterling Heights on March 28, Ferndale on July 25 and Detroit on September 26. All community-based board meetings will begin at 6:00 p.m.
